Wool Against Weapons is the campaign that CND is supporting. If you haven’t heard, Wool Against Weapons is a campaign that aims to raise awareness of nuclear weapons by encouraging people to knit/crochet a meter square of pink scarf. We need about 2,000 pieces of knitting in order to create a seven-mile human scarf that will connect AWE Aldermaston and AWE Burghfield on 9th August.
Make this protest BIG, so that the politicians take notice!
Yorkshire CND will be helping coordinate transport down the event at Burghfield, so if you are knitting, please think about coming along to help link your scarf. There will be transport from the Dales, from Leeds/Bradford, Sheffield, and Huddersfield. Get in touch now to book your space.
Friday 11th July – Wool against Weapons Knit-In and symbolic Yorkshire scarf unfurling in Leeds, outside Leeds Art Gallery on the Headrow, from 11.30 until 2 (weather permitting – though we will have a gazebo).
Saturday 19th July – Wool against Weapons ‘Knit-In’ in Calderdale. 11am-1pm at Cheeky Sew and Sew, 2 Dale Rd (off Water St) Todmorden. All welcome. Click here for the poster
Saturday 9th August – the big wool against weapons protest at Aldermaston / Burghfield.
